#8: With Every Red Light

Tuscaloosa, Alabama | June 2007 | By CARMEN K. SISSON
“Three days later, I was certain that life was on a downward slide. The car remained abandoned in a no-name town on the way to nowhere. I couldn’t scrape up the cash to make a call, let alone afford the $300 that towing companies were asking for to bring it home. Without wheels, I couldn’t work, and without work, I couldn’t do anything. I felt helpless.”

Carmen, thank you for a great story and recording.I am glad that you found and angel who helped you. I had found one my self in the seventies while in the service. My car went into a puddle and the engine stalled out and I could not restart the car.A man came along just than and said that I should sit in his car and warm up and let my car dry out than we can restart the car.it took a while and then I needed a jump to start the car.Whe my car was restarted I asked the man what he wanted for the help he had given. He said”help the next guy or gal that needed it,that way you repay me”.I think this was the start of the pay it forward movement.Again,Thank you for your story,God Bless,Mike G.
