This was very interesting to read. It's good to finally read a story about bdsm that isn't harking on it or obscene. Well done. I actually lucked out... one of those "boring" people used to be my boss... not so much anymore :-p

A 'munch?'
I have kinky sex with my girlfriend, but nothing as serious as I'd like. I would never ever ever hurt or touch a woman against her will... but I enjoy a fight. Thanks for turning me on to this.

Wow, what a riveting story. I think the author did a good job of deconstructing negative stereotypes of SandM. I personally don't indulge, but I feel much more aware of why some may like that, and how it shouldn't be so condemned. Thanks for the post.

I love this story, because it was seemingly written with such ease and innocence. College is where most people go to come out and learn about themselves. Had it not been for me going away to a college with a very diverse mix of students, it would be fair to say, that I might have continued a very sheltered and bland lifestyle. I especially explored my sexuality and learned about the psychology of sexuality and about deviance. I also became aware that where sexual taste is concerned, you can never judge a book by its cover. There are plenty of us hiding behind a straight face and naivete.

I\'m not familiar with some of the terminology used, and suspect that some words are americanisms, and I don\'t know the equivalent in Australian slang, but Annabelle\'s story reads like mine, only my story has not progressed that far yet, as I\'ve only just started at university. I never considered that I might be a masochist before, but from about 9 or 10, I have fantasised about the same sort of things that Annabelle has written about. Does anyone know what a \'munch\' in Australia might be called?

I appreciate how aptly this personal story ties together the sexual and other day-to-day aspects of Annabelle's life. Our culture seems to be so eager to polarize and define things in narrow boxes. Annabelle shows with wit and humor that our choices, however "boring" or "deviant" they may be, simply make up the fabric of our lives in all their ecstasy and their grit. I appreciate that she doesn't try to market her lifestyle with some simple explanation or slap a lot of labels on who she is or what she does.

Marla, you do know it's possible to be both, right? It's called being a switch. And much like bisexuality, it doubles your chances of a date on a Saturday night (OK, not really, but kinky people also quote Woody Allen)
